Ecology and the environment

Sedlecký kaolin a. s. undertakes a permanent effort to minimize negative impacts on the environment. Reclamation is not only a word for us but means an ecologically balanced and effective landscaping. The return of the reclaimed areas after mine exploitation back to nature is an integral part of the Sedlecký kaolin´ activities

The first comprehensive reclamations after kaolin mining in the region around Karlovy Vary were carried out as early as in the beginning of the 1960s. A larger part was reclaimed through agricultural means, the other one was transformed into a woodland and water expanses. Sedlecký kaolin a. s. carries on with this creditable work. After a relatively short period of its existence, it has recorded another 219 hectares of land returned to nature. In connection with the current exploitation, additional reclamation with the extent of another 198 hectares is scheduled.

In collaboration with local authorities we prepare redevelopment and reclamation plans, which will allow transformation of the depleted areas into important biocenters that will enrich the biodiversity and enhance the environmental stability of the region.
