Clay and natural sandstone

By-products of the mining process, kaolin washing or processing of other raw materials are various types of clays.

Subjects of treatment are kaolins and secondary washed clays, clays with lignitic admixtures, brick clays, cypress clays, kaolinite clays for whiteware and refractories, clays with increased alkali content, ball clays, bentonite clays and illitic-montmorillonite clays which are current source material for a prospective sorbent production.

Natural sandstone is mined by the company Mšenské pískovce s.r.o. in a deposit of the company Sedlecký kaolin a. s. in Mšené Lázně. The sandstone is extracted by water jet in the quarry then cut by diamond saws, or manual worked in case of masonry products.

The so-called Mšenský sandstone is a natural stone of pure color which is valued for its excellent decorative properties. It is used for sculptures, monument restoration or in garden and interior architecture (for example, St. Vitus Cathedral, the Charles Bridge, the Chateau Libochovice, the Prague Botanic Garden and others).
