Research and development

The research and development for all plants in the group of Sedlecký kaolin a. s. are provided for by the department of Technical and technological development ve spolupráci s in cooperation with the Researsch Institute VÚNES in Karlovy Vary-Všeborovice.

Our objective is a search for new materials and products that would satisfy market needs, the most effective exploitation of our raw materials and development of new treatment technology of silicate materials. Successful research and technological development are supported by applied and admitted brevets and applied models. A matter of course is collaboration with universities, research institutes and exploitation of subsidies and grants.

In technical and technological development we pursue development and exploitation of:

  • Kaolins
    •  with high fired brightness,
    •  with high dry brightness,
    •  with a very fast casting rate,
    •  with a defined granulometry of mixtures,
    •  with fine feldspar-silica blends,
    • for fiberglass.
  • Kaolins and clays with a high dry and fired strength and high alumina content.
  • Plastic kaolin of the type Zettlitz Ia with an increased content of potassium oxide.
  • Calcined ceramic mixtures with a high brightness and a low absorption capacity after fire.
  • Calcined kaolin with a high alumina content..
  • Technology of calcined kaolins and its mixtures.
  • Metakaolin for production of cement, for building industry or production of geopolymers.
  • Production technology of puzzolans (powder, paste, semi-dry mixture).
  • Fillers with a high brightness and very fine granulometry.
  • Refractory lightweight grogs with resistance to carbon monoxide.
  • Geopolymers.
  • Plastic clays for sanitary ceramics.
  • Modified and classified ceramic clays.
  • Dry processing technology of silicate raw materials.
  • Finegrained feldspar-quartz . blends.
  • Ceramic and porcelain bodies
  • White coatings based on fine non-plastic fillers.
  • Nanotechnology and nanoparticles.
  • Plasters
    • exterior plasters, resistant to the aggressive effects of chemicals, dry plaster mixtures.
  • Light sorbents with a very high absorption capacity
  • Catlitters with natural aromatic additives for cats and pets.
  • Zeolits and their mixtures.
  • Natural raw materials increasing the binding capacity of soil substrates and their ability to retain nutrients.
  • Bentonite and zeolite raw materials for fodder mixtures.
  • Natural energy sources (coal).
  • Natural deflocculants from huminate acids, etc.
